Powerleveling in ESO
Introduction
Welcome, adventurer! The realm of Tamriel awaits you in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). This guide aims to help you power-level your character to Level 50, the base game’s maximum level. Remember that ESO is designed to be a journey where you can take your time, explore, and immerse yourself in the game world. However, if you prefer to reach the endgame content quickly, this guide is for you.
Preparation
Before jumping into power-leveling, some preparation can save you a lot of time and help your progress much smoother.
Gear
Select training gear, which provides increased experience from kills. If possible, get a full set crafted by a friend or guildmate to maximize the benefit.
Experience Boosts
Use Experience (XP) boost items such as Crown Experience Scrolls or Psijic Ambrosia to gain 50%-150% extra XP. Try to use them when you’re about to undertake lots of XP-earning activities.
Skyshards and Skill Points
Consider getting Skyshards and Skill Points early. More skills can provide more options for battling enemies, improving your power-leveling efficiency.
Group Up
Playing in a group of two will yield 10% more XP per kill. Make sure you stay within 5000 in-game units of your partner to receive the bonus.
Leveling From 1-10
You start your journey in Tamriel at Level 1.
Complete the Tutorial
You can earn a nice chunk of experience by completing the tutorial. It will also provide you with some basic gear and a Skill Point.
Early Quests and Skyshards
Start with the main story quest of your alliance (Aldmeri Dominion, Daggerfall Covenant, Ebonheart Pact) and gather the Skyshards in the starting zones.
Grinding Spots
Alternatively, you can go to grinding spots, places where many enemies spawn that you can kill repeatedly for XP. Look for places where enemies spawn fast, so you can continuously defeat them for XP. The starter islands like Khenarthi’s Roost, Stros M’kai, and Bleakrock Isle have good grinding spots.
Leveling From 10-25
Dungeons
At Level 10, you gain access to dungeons. The first time you complete a dungeon, you earn a large XP reward. Group up with a friend or use the group finder tool to form a team.
Dolmens
Dolmens (Dark Anchors) are excellent for power leveling, especially in the Alik’r Desert, where players often form Dolmen grinding groups. Stand in a group, and you can quickly teleport from one Dolmen to the next, gaining lots of XP in the process.
Battlegrounds
If you’re into PvP, you can earn a decent amount of XP by participating in Battlegrounds, unlocked at Level 10. Winning a Battleground match can give you a significant XP boost.
Leveling From 25-50
More Dungeons
At Level 25, continue to run dungeons, especially daily dungeons, for more experience. Don’t forget to use your XP boosts before starting a dungeon.
Craglorn
The region of Craglorn is a popular grinding spot, full of tough enemies intended for group play. You’ll need a partner here, but the rewards are worth the extra effort.
Main Story Quests
The main story quests yield significant XP and are worth doing if you prefer questing to grinding. They are also crucial for the lore and overall storyline of ESO.
Tips and Tricks
Use the Right Skills
Ensure you have a skill from each of your class skill lines on your ability bar, so they all level up together.
Feed Your Mount
Feed your mount daily to improve its stats. Speed is most helpful for leveling as it helps you get to places faster.
Fighters and Mages Guild
Join the Fighters and Mages Guilds as soon as possible. Both guilds provide unique skill lines that are very useful in combat.
Use Add-Ons
There are several ESO add-ons that can help you in your leveling journey, such as Skyshards (shows Skyshard locations on your map), LoreBooks (displays locations of lorebooks), and Destinations (marks quest locations).
Understanding the Champion Points System
Upon reaching level 50, you’ll start gaining Champion Points (CP). These are shared across all characters on your account and can be allocated to enhance your characters’ abilities. Understanding this system early on will aid you in preparing for the endgame content.
Grinding Safety
Grinding can be repetitive and potentially boring. Take regular breaks to avoid burnout and ensure you maintain an enjoyable gaming experience.
Conclusion
Remember that ESO is an expansive game with a lot to explore and enjoy. While power leveling can be useful, don’t forget to enjoy the game world and lore, engage with other players, and have fun with the journey.
